Why the name ‘MATTISSE’?
At LATTICE MEDICAL, the name MATTISSE tells our story.
It all began in Lille in 2014, when a textile engineer met with doctors and surgeons from Lille University Hospital. Together, they explored a new approach to breast reconstruction using three-dimensional matrices.
The project was given a name: MATTISSE – Three-dimensional Textile Matrices for Tissue Reconstruction.
A scientific acronym… and a nod to Henri Matisse, a native of Calais in northern France, who inspired our DNA from the very start of our research.
The first trials were carried out using textile materials, including the famous Calais lace, before these were replaced by biocompatible filaments that dissolve naturally, allowing the body to rebuild breast tissue.
