Lattice Medical, a French MedTech company specializing in the design and manufacturing of innovative implantable medical devices for soft tissue reconstruction, has secured €2,150,257 in funding for its MEDCO2 project under the France 2030 program and the “Supporting Innovation in Sterilization and the Design of Environmentally Friendly Medical Devices” Grand Challenges call for projects.

MEDCO2: An Industrial Innovation for Implantable Medical Devices

The MEDCO2 project aims to integrate a supercritical CO₂ sterilization process into an industrial additive manufacturing (3D printing) production line for bioresorbable medical devices.

This technology enables the sterility levels required for implantable medical devices to be achieved while preserving their physicochemical and mechanical properties.

A key milestone in the industrialization of Lattice Medical’s solutions

This achievement strengthens the development of Lattice Medical’s bioresorbable tissue engineering solutions, with the objective of providing simpler, more sustainable, and less invasive alternatives for the reconstruction of tissues damaged by cancer, including breast reconstruction and the reconstruction of deep subcutaneous soft tissues.

The project builds on the work carried out with the RODIN device and will accelerate the integration of new critical manufacturing steps into the production process.

Strengthening and streamlining industrial manufacturing

The integration of supercritical CO₂ sterilization represents a strategic milestone in the industrial manufacturing process, enabling:

  • Reduced production lead times;
  • Enhanced regulatory control and compliance;
  • Greater security and reliability of critical manufacturing steps;
  • The development of a contract sterilization service (CDMO) offering.

Driving innovation in the Hauts-de-France region

Based in Loos, in the heart of the Hauts-de-France region, Lattice Medical reaffirms its commitment to developing innovative medical technologies while contributing to the growth and international visibility of the French MedTech ecosystem.
